Helping at Home

One of my primary goals/motivations in attending college from home is being able to continue helping at home. This also benefits me because it prepares me to have my own home one day.

My duties vary day to day, month to month, and year to year. But for right now, here are some of the ways I am helping around my house:

·       Wash and distribute laundry one day per week (we do laundry every day except Sunday)
·       Strip my bed and wash the sheets with the kids towels and fold them once per week
·       Iron clothes
·       Cook dinner once per week
·       Clean up after dinner once per week with my brother Ben
·       Grade Rubia and Roma’s math and tutor them as needed
·       Cook or do a craft with Josiah once per week
·       Dust the den and my bedroom once per week
·       Vacuum our dining room, hall rugs, and den once per week
·       Teach a piano lesson to one of my siblings, once per week

I also help chauffer my siblings around quite a bit! Sometimes it’s taking Ben to Dad’s office for Boy Scouts on Tuesday, taking the four older ones to youth group on Wednesday, Roma to music lessons on Thursday, or a spontaneous Goodwill run. And of course, I often get asked to do other things, clean up extra dishes, etc. I am blessed to have these years to serve my family and learn at the same time!
