The month of
June was filled with many milestones! And they included a little bit of
everything, from seeing my first copperhead, to photographing my first
armadillo, to having my first paid photo shoot (of people ;-)) and more!
One of the bigger
milestones was completing my freshman year of college! That’s right: after 6
months of hard work, I’m finally a sophomore!! I took one of my hardest exams
on Thursday (the Ethics in America DSST) and passed. I now get to enjoy a three-month
break before starting up again in October!
Another big
milestone is about to occur on July 1st. At 5 a.m., I will be
embarking on my first journey without my family. I will be flying to Guatemala
for a 3.5 week internship with Fellowship Guatemala! I had an opportunity to
serve this organization last summer on a week-long mission trip with my church.
When the missionaries came and stayed in our home for 5 days last fall, I was
asked to consider coming down as an intern. After praying about it, I agreed to
go.
God has made incredible
provisions for this trip! Not only have the doors stayed wide open, He provided
another intern to travel with me (a friend from church), and He provided almost
all of my funds! A small fraction of the cost came out of pocket. And I didn’t
even write support letters! God is so good!
Please be
praying for me as I embark on this adventure! Pray for my family as they remain
at home. This will be the longest amount of time I’ve been away from home, and
the longest time I’ve been apart from my family. I’m sure the time will go by
quickly, and I will try to post some updates here during the trip. Maybe even a
few pictures. ;-) If not, I will definitely post when I get back! So stay
tuned!
